Powering a Safer, Greener, and More Connected Transportation Future Through V2X Innovation
With a commitment to collaboration, Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences actively partners with industry, research institutions and international networks. This collaborative spirit enriches the academic experience and provides students with insights into real-world challenges and global perspectives. Our commitment to innovation, interdisciplinary learning and student success reflects our ongoing contribution to the advancement of applied science and technology. In addition, we draw on technological insights from diverse research groups within the University and external partnerships. Our collaborative network spans institutions on different continents, providing a diverse perspective on the global challenges of bicycle safety.
Cyclist safety is an important priority within our university community, where we actively support initiatives aimed at creating a safer cycling environment. Cycling is an important aspect of our journey towards a carbon neutral transport system. This will only be successful if people can use their bikes with a sense of safety. Originating from a research team specialising in mobility and transport, our focus extends to crucial areas such as traffic planning, road infrastructure monitoring and analysis of mobility behaviour. Driven by a desire to increase the use of cycling, our team has done extensive research into safe cycling infrastructure.
We already know that good transport infrastructure is essential for safe roads. This will be even more true as C-V2X becomes more widespread. In addition to the design of the technical communication between vehicles, the road infrastructure seems to us to be particularly important. Key questions guide our research: How does the existing road infrastructure affect the operation of C-V2X technology? To what extent might C-V2X integration require adjustments to our current infrastructure? Going further, we are investigating methods to improve the interaction between C-V2X systems and road infrastructure, with a firm commitment to improving cyclist safety. Our research aims not only to unravel the complexities, but also to propose practical solutions that harmonise technology and infrastructure to improve global cycling safety.
