Creating a Safer Future for Cyclists Through Connected Vehicle Innovation

The past few years have seen traffic fatalities involving bicyclists reach the highest levels ever recorded in the United States, with numbers trending in a tragic direction elsewhere. For Audi, there is no stronger clarion call to seek a solution that clearly alerts both cyclists and motorists about their proximity.

That solution is cellular vehicle-to-everything communications, or C-V2X for short, communications. Utilizing a crystal-clear channel of the wireless spectrum reserved for transportation safety, C-V2X provides safety-critical “see me, see you” messages before a collision occurs. This isn’t some distant dream, but a technology that Audi intends to explore through the Coalition for Cyclist Safety with the full cycling community, including bicycle manufacturers, their innovative suppliers and governments at all levels.
